The Padron 1964 is a cigar that requires no introduction. It is flawless in its construction, with a wrapper that is light brown in color with very fine veins and double bands that are perfectly assembled. The pre-lit cigar has almost no aroma and a cold draw that tastes of dried leather and cedar. Once lit the first third starts off with a woodsy taste and notes of black pepper, which are present in the retrohale alongside a leathery quality. A perfect draw brings us seamlessly into the second third where the flavors persist and the retrohale transitions from the initial pepper into a dried earth. The final third saw the peppery notes fade away into the final taste of dried earth, cedar, and charred wood. Overall, this cigar was very consistent throughout the entire experience and satisfies your palate with everything you want in a Nicaraguan cigar.

Wrapper: nICARAGUA
Binder: nICARAGUA
Filler: Nicaragua
Strength: Medium

While Montecristo blended the original 1935 Nicaraguan to be a full-bodied powerhouse, the Edition Diamante is medium in strength with flavors that are subtle and refined. A testament to Nicaraguan tobaccos it has a dark, oily, and toothy wrapper and complimented by a brown and gold double band that seamlessly blends into the cigar. In contrast to the outward appearance the cold draw is smooth and mild accompanied by the faintest hint of spice. As the cigar was lit, the room was filled with the wonderful aromas of fruit and nuts. While the first few puffs were silky with a mild creaminess that was a complement to the leathery quality of the smoke itself. The nuanced flavors persisted throughout the first half accompanied by occasional and subtle notes of fruit and sweetness. At the halfway mark, the 1935 transitions from a smooth and refined medium body to full bodied and earthy. Overall, the 1935 was wonderfully complex with subtle and nuanced flavors and an even burn that never required touching up.
